Uploading photographs

Hi anyone who can help. I've just set up my new website and need to upload some photographs. They are stored on my laptop in JPEG format. I don't seem to be able to get the upload section to work. I'm able to find the photographs but nothing seems to happen! Help! Perhaps someone has some simple instructions to help. Also my website isn't updating everytime - there was a problem with the domains set up against my account but Supanet have told me that this is all fixed. Thank you

I had a similar problem a few days ago because they didn't activate my site yet. My FTP manager doesn't work from their site, so I use Filezilla. You should use a FTP Client and see if it works. Its in one of the stickies.

We have logged in and uploaded a file using the control panel successfully. Are you still experiencing difficulties?

I'm not sure what you mean by using control panel. I'm using the web builder, edit page and then add an image from that page. It then brings up another page via which I access the browser but I don't seem to be able to upload the photographs. Can you send me better instructions? Also, the problem I have got is that a domain name which is already being used by someone else was linked to my account when I set it up, together with 3 others, 4 in total. 3 are used by other people and one for my use. When I look to view the amended web page it brings up the page which isn't mine. Also when I use a browser to view my page, it doesn't show the amended version. Linda in your accounts department seemed to put it right at first but now it's not working. If you need any domain names to check please let me know. Thanks for your help.

The control panel is what you log into to manage your hosting account.

When we say we have successfully uploaded images using the control panel, we mean we have logged into your account, selected the “site managerâ€

Thank you! I was doing exactly what you said so I'm pleased I was doing it correctly! I think the problem is with the photograph I was trying to upload. I've done the same thing with a photograph I took with a different camera and it works perfectly. Are there any setting I need to be aware of? I think it might have something to do with the size of the photograph. The one which uploads ok is only 573 KB but the other one is 2.2 MB. Do you know how to change the resolution to reduce its size?

Also could you look into this problem when I go to view my site and it comes up with http://www.costadelsolapartment.com. My domain is http://www.costadelsolapartment.biz and it isn't showing, it also isn't updating my amendments.
Many thanks for your help.

When you search for http://www.costadelsolapartment.biz in a web broswer, it is your site that is found and displayed. What are you searching for to find http://www.costadelsolapartment.com?

Yes, the reason why your picture was not showing was because of the file size, it was limited to 2MB, this has now been increased to 5MB. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Your pages are showing changes and updates when you follow the instructions in our previous post.

Hope this helps.

It all seems to be working ok now. What was happening was that I made amendments, clicked to make site live and then clicked to view the site - it showed the wrong website but from a browser I could view mine ok. Maybe the system needed to update overnight?
I'll try and reload the photos - is this ok from now onwards? Thanks for all your help with this. I can't believe I've actually created my own website - my friends are very impressed! Is there any way I can create a form that the client can complete and send to me on line? I'm assuming it will be sent to my email box.

Yes everything should be working fine now and congratulations on designing your first website. :D

It is possible to send emails from your website, there is a file in your cgi-bin directory that is used send the emails which is conveniently called sendmail.pl. To use sendmail.pl you will need to include the following code into the page you wish to send it from. To insert this into your website create your pages as normal using the web builder and once the pages are complete you will need to access the files through the control panel as explained earlier in this thread. Once in your webspace click on the file/webpage that you wish to send the mail from and then select “editâ€
