slow to load web site due to pictures

recently designed a new web site with ms office publisher, then uploaded the site using fling,
when i then go to my web site address the new site loads very slowly, and doesnt scroll propery its not a smooth scroll its very jumpy. any ideas to help me out anybody ? ps there are a lot of photos

Asia and Africa catching up with rest of world in net usage
27/04/07 – The e-readiness rankings produced the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) have shown that Asian and African countries' net usage is catching up with that of the developed world's. The rankings attribute this partly to cheap broadband access now being common and widespread in those parts of the world.
Apple announce Leopard release date
The update to the Apple operating system OS X, Leopard, will be released on 26 October according to the computer giant. It was originally scheduled to be released in June but had to be delayed as Apple prioritised the development of the iPhone.
Bioshock continues to pick up awards
The underwater adventure game Bioshock has added to its impressive haul of awards by taking home the game of the year gong at the Spike TV awards. It came ahead of Halo 3, Mass Effect and The Orange Box to win at the ceremony in Las Vegas hosted by Samuel L. Jackson.
