Bionic hand goes on the market
18/07/07 – A bionic hand invented by a Scottish NHS worker that is controlled by the patient's mind and muscles has gone on the market. The hand's thumb and fingers can grip like a regular human hand and has been tested on US soldiers who were injured in Iraq.
Europe hangs up on landlines
Research has revealed that nearly a fifth of Europeans have rejected landline phones. At the top of the list of nations hanging up on traditional phones is Lithuania with 48% of households going mobile; Finland was second with 47%.
iPlayer must offer download service
The BBC has been told that their planned iPlayer service must be made available for users of all computers. It follows an announcement from the BBC that a download service for Mac and Linux users was dependent on costs and not 100% definite.
